Details that sell the era

A picture from 1908 lives in its textures. Brooches, ruffles, striped fabric and a starched shirtfront are what make a viewer believe it. Before you send, check the scan for glare off glossy paper and rescan at an angle if you see it. After the result arrives, look at pattern edges, because the bot may smooth fabric into a plain surface. If that happens, rerun with 'keep the fabric pattern visible'.

Names and dates

Pictures from this period often carry a pencil note on the back, sometimes only a first name and a town. Photograph the back before anything else and store it next to the front.
