Restore a face in an old photo
Faces are the first thing people look at in an old picture, and the first thing that gets lost to fading and scratches. The restore mode repairs the damage around the face and keeps the person recognizable. If a face is badly gone, the AI has to rebuild it, and the result may not look like them.

Make it in TelegramWhat gets repaired
Light damage is handled well: scratches, creases, dust, stains and fading over a face. The mode removes them and keeps skin tone, expression and the way the person is posed. Black-and-white photos stay black-and-white in this mode. If you also want color, use the colorize mode after the repair, or the full mode that does both in one run for 2 credits.
When the face is mostly gone
Where the original has lost an eye, a mouth or a large part of the face, there is nothing to repair. The AI reconstructs those parts from what a face usually looks like. The picture will look natural and may not look like the person. This is a limit of the technology. Treat such a result as an artistic reconstruction and show it to someone who knew the person before you share or print it.
Checking the result
Open the result at full size and look at the features that carry likeness: the shape of the eyes, the line of the smile, the ears and the hairline. Compare with other photos if you have them. If something feels off, the original is still the truest record, and you can keep both files together in one folder, named so you never mix them up.
Tips
- Crop to the person if the rest of the photo is fine, so the face gets more of the picture.
- Scan at the highest setting you can. Details in the original help the AI stay close to the person.
- If you have a second photo of the same person, keep it open to compare the shape of the eyes, smile and hairline.
- Rerun once with a more specific caption if one feature looks wrong.
Questions and answers
Will the restored face look like the person?
For light damage, yes. For heavily damaged faces the AI reconstructs missing parts and the result may not look like them.
Does it retouch passport photos?
No. The bot does not retouch passport or ID photos.
Can I fix several faces in a group photo?
Yes, the whole picture is processed. Small faces are the riskiest, so check each one.
Is it free to try?
15 free credits on first launch cover 7 images. Then packs start from 49 Stars.
How long does it take?
Usually 1-2 minutes per image.
What the bot does not do
- Does not print photos and does not retouch passport or ID photos.
- Does not promise a fixed pixel size. Check the result at full size before printing.
- Heavily damaged faces are reconstructed by AI and may not look like the person. Compare with another photo.
- Does not make video or animate the photo.
