Small frame, limited detail

A contact print is made at the size of the negative, so detail is limited by the tiny image. Enlarging it brings softness. The bot adds believable sharpness to faces and edges, and it cannot restore detail the film never recorded in the first place. If the negative strip still exists, scan that instead, since it will hold much more information than the proof.

Reading the marks

The grease pencil marks are editing notes from the person who chose frames long ago. A circle or an X can tell you which picture they liked. Photograph the full sheet before you clean anything so the notes survive. Then ask for the marks to be removed from the single frame you want to keep. The original sheet is a small archive of that roll and deserves a sleeve.
