Restore Instamatic and 110 film snapshots
Pocket cameras and Instamatics gave a generation its family pictures, on tiny negatives printed small and soft. Colors have since drifted toward orange or magenta. A careful scan and a short caption help the bot recover what the little lens captured.

When you need this
- Prints are the size of a matchbook and very grainy.
- Everything has a warm brown cast.
- Faces are soft at the edges of the frame.
How to do it
- 1
Press the button to open @visumate_ai_bot in Telegram. No sign-up, and new users get 15 free credits, which is 7 images.
- 2
Send the scan as a file. In the caption write: 'small 110 film snapshot, reduce grain, fix orange cast, sharpen faces, keep the vintage look and the square framing'.
- 3
In 1-2 minutes the restored picture arrives for 2 credits. Compare grain and skin against a larger print from the same period if you have one.
Try it on your own photo: 7 images are free, no sign-up.
Make it in TelegramSmall source, modest goals
A 110 negative is only 13 by 17 millimeters, so there is a hard limit to the detail. Ask for a clean, readable picture, and skip the studio portrait expectations. Grain reduction should leave a little texture so the print does not look waxy. If the bot over-smooths, rerun with 'keep some film grain'. The result looks better enlarged to snapshot size than to poster size.
Negatives in the shoebox
Often the negatives survive in a paper sleeve at the bottom of the shoebox, and they hold better color than the prints. Scan a strip of negatives on a transparency scanner, or photograph them on a light panel, and send the frames you like. The bot can invert them if you say so in the caption. Keep the strip in a clean envelope and label the sleeve with the year and the occasion.
Tips
- Scan at a very high setting because the original is small.
- If you still have the negative, scan it too.
- Keep the square or rounded corners if you like them.
- Batch by trip so colors stay consistent.
Questions and answers
Do I need the negatives?
No, prints work. Negatives usually give a better start.
Can it fix the rounded corners?
It keeps them if you ask, or you can crop them out.
What does it cost?
2 credits per image. New users get 15 free credits, so 7 images cost nothing. After that packs start at 129 Telegram Stars, about $2.6 and credits do not expire.
Does the bot work in English?
Yes. It picks up your Telegram language on first launch. You can switch it any time with /lang.
What the bot does not do
- Does not print photos and does not retouch passport or ID photos.
- Does not promise a fixed pixel size. Check the result at full size before printing.
- Heavily damaged faces are reconstructed by AI and may not look like the person. Compare with another photo.
- Does not make video or animate the photo.
