Sharpen a photo from an old phone or early digital camera

BeforeAfter
In short: Photos from early phones and cheap digital cameras are small and noisy. Sharpen them to save memories from the 2000s and early 2010s.
- Where: the VisuMate bot in Telegram, no app or sign-up.
- Cost: 2 credits per image, 7 images free, then packs from 49 Telegram Stars.
- Time: 1 to 2 minutes per image, rerun with a new instruction at the same price.
When you need this
- The file is 640 by 480 pixels.
- Faces are blocky and the colors muddy.
- The device is gone and so are other copies.
How to do it
- 1
Tap the button on this page. Telegram opens the bot, press Start and the right mode is already selected.
- 2
Send the picture as a file (document) so Telegram does not compress it further. In the caption write: enhance this old phone photo, sharper faces, reduce noise, keep colors natural.
- 3
In 1-2 minutes the sharpened picture arrives in the chat. Download it and compare faces with the original at full size.
Try it on your own photo: 7 images are free, no sign-up.
Make it in TelegramSmall files, honest limits
A 640 by 480 picture has about 300 thousand pixels, much less than a modern phone shot. The AI adds plausible detail, so the result looks cleaner, but it will not match a real high-resolution photo. For screen use and small prints it can be a big improvement. Send the scan as a file in Telegram so the picture is not compressed, and keep the untouched original in a separate folder for comparison.
Noise and compression
Early cameras used heavy compression, so pictures show blocks and color noise. The sharpen mode reduces these artifacts. If the result looks too smooth, rerun with keep natural texture in the caption. Skin should still look like skin. Take your time with the result and look at it at full size on a computer, because small details are easy to miss on a phone screen.
Tips
- Use the original file, not a messenger copy.
- Do not resize it first.
- Send as a document.
- Check the result at full screen before printing.
