Make it in TelegramWhat YouTube Help says
On the YouTube Help page about custom thumbnails (checked 2026-10-13), the recommended resolution for videos is 3840×2160 pixels with a minimum width of 640 pixels. For Shorts it is 2160×3840 with a minimum height of 640. The aspect ratio is 16:9 for videos, 9:16 for Shorts and 1:1 for podcast playlists. The page lists a 50 MB limit on desktop and 2 MB for video thumbnails on mobile, and asks for image formats such as JPG or PNG. Limits change, so look at the page before an important upload.
Where the bot fits
The bot returns a 16:9 image through the general image mode, which suits the standard video thumbnail. It gives you the ratio, not exact pixel counts. Resize in an editor if you need a specific resolution. Use the bot for the visual idea: the character, the scene, the mood. Ask for empty space on one side so a title has room.
Text on thumbnails
The bot can draw English words, but AI sometimes misspells them. If the title must be exact, ask for a clean image with space for text and type the words yourself. If you let the bot draw them, keep to two or three words and read every letter.
Tips
- Check your video type first. Regular videos use 16:9, Shorts use 9:16 and podcast playlists use 1:1.
- Keep the main subject large and away from the bottom-right corner, where the video length badge appears.
- Use two to four words of text, or none, and add them in an editor if exact spelling matters.
- High contrast between subject and background reads better at small size.
- Save a copy in JPG or PNG, the formats YouTube names.
