Pinterest pin size: the ratio the feed keeps whole

Pinterest tells advertisers to use a 2:3 ratio, which is 1000 x 1500 pixels, in PNG or JPEG. Its help page also warns that pins taller than 2:3 might be cut off in feeds. So the safe shape is a tall rectangle, a bit narrower than a phone screen. VisuMate can draw it for you.

The Pinterest help page for product specs lists 2:3, or 1000 x 1500 pixels, as the recommended shape for a standard image. It accepts PNG and JPEG, and it says all images are converted to 8-bit RGB JPEGs, so uploading PNG in sRGB avoids quality loss. A title can run to 100 characters, but only about the first 40 may show in feeds. Specs change, so open the page before you print or pay.

Drawing a pin in that shape

A bot cannot guarantee exact pixels, but it can follow a ratio you describe. Say 'tall pin, 2 to 3' and name one subject. Place the subject in the middle third, because feeds trim the edges on some screens. Leave a calm band at the top for a headline you add later. If the result is wider than you want, send one short correction and the bot draws a second version.

Does Pinterest accept square pins?
