Product photography lighting at home with one window and a white card
You do not need studio lamps to shoot a product. A large window on an overcast day behaves like a softbox, and a piece of white card on the other side works as a reflector. The skill is mostly in where the item sits relative to the window and which lamps in the room are switched off.

In short: Good product light at home needs a window, a white card and patience. Where to place the item, when to shoot, and how to fix what is left with a Telegram bot.
- Where: the VisuMate bot in Telegram, no app or sign-up.
- Cost: 2 credits per image, 7 images free, then packs from 129 Telegram Stars.
- Time: 1 to 2 minutes per image, rerun with a new instruction at the same price.
- Credits never expire, there is no subscription and no auto-renew. You pay once for a pack inside Telegram with Stars.
When you need this
- Room lamps give the item a yellow tint and hard shadows.
- Direct sun makes bright spots and black shadows.
- One side of the item always sits in the dark.
How to do it
- 1
Press the button to open @visumate_ai_bot in Telegram. No sign-up, and new users get 15 free credits, which is 7 images.
- 2
Shoot your item as described below, then send the photo as a file. In the caption write: 'soft studio light from the left, gentle fill from the right, clean light gray background, natural shadow, keep colors and shape exactly'.
- 3
The studio-style version arrives in about two minutes for 2 credits. Compare it with your original to see how much of the light the bot changed.
Try it on your own photo: 7 images are free, no sign-up.
Make it in TelegramWindow and distance
Put a table close to the largest window you have and set the item near the edge nearest the glass. The closer it sits, the softer and brighter the light. Light from the side shows shape and texture, while light from behind gives a glowing edge and a dark front. Avoid direct sun unless you cover the glass. Early morning and late afternoon give a warmer tone, and midday on a cloudy day is the most even.
Reflector and what is left
A white card on the shady side bounces light back and shortens the shadow. Black card on the same side deepens it, which suits shiny metal and glass. If the picture still has a tint or a flat gray background, the bot can re-light it from your caption. That is a redraw, so check the colors and edges against the real item afterward.
Tips
- Switch off all lamps in the room so only daylight is left.
- Place the item at right angles to the window, not facing it.
- Hold white card or foam board on the side away from the window to lift the shadows.
- On a sunny day hang a thin white curtain over the glass to soften the beam.
Questions and answers
Can I use a lamp instead of a window?
Yes, though a bare bulb is harsh. Bounce it off a white wall or put paper between the lamp and the item.
What if I only have a small window?
Move the table as close as you can and use a reflector. Take several shots and pick the brightest one.
What does it cost?
2 credits per image. New users get 15 free credits, so 7 images cost nothing. After that packs start at 129 Telegram Stars, about $2.6 and credits do not expire.
Does the bot work in English?
Yes. It picks up your Telegram language on first launch. You can switch it any time with /lang.
What the bot does not do
- Does not output a transparent PNG. The result is a finished 3:4 image with a background.
- Does not write listing copy, set prices or upload anything to your seller account.
- Does not guarantee exact marketplace pixel sizes: crop or resize the 3:4 image in any editor.
- Text on infographics is drawn by AI and can have letter errors in long phrases. Keep badges short and proofread.
