Restore the weathered portrait on a headstone
Many cemeteries in eastern Europe and some in the US have ceramic or enamel portraits fixed to stones. Rain, frost and lichen wear them down. Send your photo of the stone, and the bot cleans the face and keeps the carved text unchanged.

Make it in TelegramPhotographing the stone well
Shiny enamel throws back the sky, so look for an angle without a reflection. An overcast morning works best. Stand square to the portrait and hold the phone parallel. Take several frames and send the sharpest one. The bot can reduce a mild glare, though a bright spot over an eye leaves too little to work with. A second visit on a different day often gives a better picture.
A face and a record
A restored portrait helps relatives who never met the person and gives genealogists a face for the dates on the stone. Save the wide shot with the full inscription next to the restored face and write the cemetery name and plot. Do not alter the stone itself. Cleaning the surface is a job for a monument conservator, and your digital copy helps you decide whether that is needed.
Tips
- Shoot in shade or with your own shadow across the stone.
- Take a wide photo of the whole stone with the dates.
- Do not scrub the surface with a brush or chemicals.
- Respect cemetery rules about visits and photography.
