BeforeAfter
In short: Fine web-like cracks and flaked patches on old glossy prints can be repaired from a close, even-light scan of the print.
- Where: the VisuMate bot in Telegram, no app or sign-up.
- Cost: 2 credits per image, 7 images free, then packs from 49 Telegram Stars.
- Time: 1 to 2 minutes per image, rerun with a new instruction at the same price.
When you need this
- Your grandparents' portrait has a network of cracks across the whole surface.
- Emulsion flaked off near the edge and left white patches.
- The cracks look worse in a scan than in person.
How to do it
- 1
Tap the button on this page. Telegram opens the bot, press Start and the right mode is already selected.
- 2
Send the scan or phone picture as a file (document) so Telegram does not compress it. In the caption write: network of fine cracks over the whole print, keep faces natural.
- 3
In 1-2 minutes the repaired photo arrives in the chat. Download it, compare it with the original and run again if a spot was missed.
Try it on your own photo: 7 images are free, no sign-up.
Make it in TelegramA crack network behaves like noise
A web of fine cracks covers the whole image rather than one line. The AI treats the pattern as noise on top of the photo and replaces it with a smooth continuation. Lighter damage disappears. Heavy damage can lead to waxy-looking skin, so compare with the original and run again if it looks too smooth. Hair, lace and tree branches have a texture of their own, so cracks over them take extra care. Look at those areas first.
Light and angle when scanning
Raking light shows every crack. Use soft, even daylight and a straight view of the print. If you use a phone, keep it parallel and send the file as a document. A sharp, flat capture gives the AI the real borders of the cracks, and it can separate them from true details like eyelashes. A cluster of cracks around the edges of the print is the easiest to clear, while cracks over a face need a closer look.
Tips
- Photograph under diffuse light so cracks do not cast their own shadows.
- Do not press the print flat, the emulsion can lift further.
- If cracks are deep, expect the AI to invent more in those areas.
- Check hair and fabric textures after the run, they sometimes smooth too much.
Questions and answers
Will skin look too smooth?
Sometimes. Rerun with keep skin texture in the caption.
Can it save flaking prints?
It repairs the digital image. Handle the original gently.
Does it handle both cracks and fading?
Yes, in the same mode.
What about color prints?
The mode is built for old prints and may handle color if the damage is the main issue.
