Colorize an old street photograph
Street scenes contain many small things: signs, awnings, cars, coats. The bot colorizes them with plausible colors, and your hints for the biggest items improve the result.

BeforeAfter
In short: Colorize a black-and-white city street from decades ago. Describe shopfronts, vehicles and the season to guide a believable scene.
- Where: the VisuMate bot in Telegram, no app or sign-up.
- Cost: 2 credits per image, 7 images free, then packs from 49 Telegram Stars.
- Time: 1 to 2 minutes per image, rerun with a new instruction at the same price.
When you need this
- A photo of a street from your childhood is in gray.
- You want to see a shopfront in color for a local history project.
- A crowd scene has dozens of coats and hats.
How to do it
- 1
Open @visumate_ai_bot in Telegram with the button on this page and press Start. No sign-up is needed.
- 2
Send the black-and-white photo as a file (document) so Telegram does not compress it. In the caption write: autumn street, red tram, yellow brick building, people in dark coats.
- 3
In 1-2 minutes the colorized picture arrives in the chat. Download it, and if a color is off, run again with a hint in the caption.
Try it on your own photo: 7 images are free, no sign-up.
Make it in TelegramLarge and small elements
In a street picture, buildings, vehicles and sky cover the most area. The AI chooses their colors first. Hints for these make the biggest difference. People are small and numerous, and they will get varied clothing colors. This is plausible but not historic. The first launch gives 15 free credits, which is enough for 7 images, so you can test the result on your own picture before buying anything.
Using the result
Colorized street pictures work well in local history displays when labeled. Keep the black-and-white version next to it. If the original shows text on signs, read it from the original, since colorizing may change letter shapes. The bot does not read signs and cannot restore text exactly. Handle the original print by the edges and store it in an acid-free sleeve away from sunlight and damp.
Tips
- Hint the largest items: building, vehicle, sky.
- Crowds get random clothing colors, so expect variety.
- Signs and shop names will not be accurate after colorizing.
- Check reference photos if the picture is for a publication.
Questions and answers
Will shop names remain readable?
Not reliably. Use the original for text.
Can I set the season?
Yes, in the caption.
What about vehicles?
Hint their color if you know it.
Is it OK for publication?
Label it as colorized.
