Enhance an old photo's resolution for printing
Prints need more pixels than screens. The sharpen mode helps small scans, but you should check the size before you order a large print.

BeforeAfter
In short: A small old scan will look soft in a large frame. Check the size you need, rescan if possible and use the bot to add plausible detail.
- Where: the VisuMate bot in Telegram, no app or sign-up.
- Cost: 2 credits per image, 7 images free, then packs from 49 Telegram Stars.
- Time: 1 to 2 minutes per image, rerun with a new instruction at the same price.
When you need this
- A 5 by 7 print was scanned at low dpi.
- The frame you bought is 11 by 14 inches.
- The print shop warns about low resolution.
How to do it
- 1
Use the button on this page to open the bot in Telegram, then press Start. Your 15 free credits appear on first launch.
- 2
Send the picture as a file (document) so Telegram does not compress it further. In the caption write: improve resolution and sharpness for printing, keep the original look.
- 3
Wait 1-2 minutes for the result. View it at 100 percent, and rerun if the first pass is not clear enough.
Try it on your own photo: 7 images are free, no sign-up.
Make it in TelegramDo the math
A print 8 inches wide at 300 pixels per inch needs about 2400 pixels across. Check the pixel size of your file and of the result from the bot. If you are far below, a smaller print or a rescan is the safer choice. A run takes 1-2 minutes and uses 2 credits, so trying a second version with a clearer caption is an easy step.
Plausible detail
The AI adds detail that looks natural, but it did not exist in the original. For a wall picture seen from a distance this works well. For close inspection, you may notice that fine areas such as hair and fabric look smoother than in a real photograph. Handle the original print by the edges and store it in an acid-free sleeve away from sunlight and damp.
Tips
- Aim for about 300 pixels per inch at the print size.
- Rescan the original at 600 to 1200 dpi when possible.
- Ask the print shop for a test print.
- Do not expect an AI result to match a rescan.
