Restore an old band or musicians photo

A band photo has gleaming brass, music stands with the name painted on the front and players who rarely look at the camera. Glare and fading flatten all of it. Send a scan, and the bot restores the shine, the instruments and the faces.

Instrument shapes

Brass and strings follow strict shapes, so a wrong curve stands out. The bot generally gets a trumpet right, but tubas and saxophones can come out strange. Check bells, valves and strings. If one is wrong, rerun and name the instrument, for example 'the man on the right plays a tenor saxophone'. For a family with a musician in the album, getting the instrument right matters more than any other detail.

Lettering on drums

Bands painted their name on the bass drum and on music stands. That lettering is a lead for finding records, venues and recordings. The bot rarely reproduces text correctly, so treat the result as a guide. Read the original lettering with a magnifier and compare. If you can identify the name, keep it in your notes and add it to the finished file, using an editor to set clean type rather than trusting the restored letters.
